Fabian Bussoletti will address the growing issue of illegal superannuation access. Highlighting the serious consequences for SMSF trustees, it will dispel the misconception that loans to members can be used as an alternative to withdrawing superannuation, while also covering related super investment rules. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of the preservation rules and explore legitimate conditions of release available to SMSF members. The session aims to equip trustees with the knowledge needed to ensure their fund remains compliant and avoid costly mistakes.

The ins and outs of SMSF death benefits

While it may seem easy, planning for and dealing with SMSF death benefits often causes problems. During this practical session, Tracey Besters will cover the five crucial areas for you to consider in order to protect your family and your wishes when you are no longer around. We will look at a range of scenarios, some war stories and also some of the less common requests trustees and members might make.

 

ATO SMSF essential insights and regulatory update

In this session, Paul will examine the  recent trends in relation to new fund registrations, what the ATO is  doing to help trustees understand their legal responsibilities and  obligations so they enter the system well informed and the risks  associated with getting involved with schemes and scams. Given the  current public discussion on the government’s proposed Division 296 tax,  this session will also cover the importance of fund compliance  regarding asset valuations, lodgement and the illegal early access of  super.
